It’s easiest to get to the church by car, but there is a bus station close by (www.sl.se) if you prefer to travel by bus. If you do take the bus, let us know so that we can help with arranging a ride to the reception.

Why this date?
The reason we chose the 20th of June to get married and have Walter baptized on is that it also happens to be the eve of one of Sweden’s largest holidays, Midsommar. One of the most traditional and celebrated holidays throughout the entire year, the joy of Midsommar and how it reflects the beauty of the Swedish summer is something we want to share with you on our special day.
Attire
Sunday best. Because the festivities will be held in our garden we recommend that you wear flat shoes as well as bring a warm sweater since the temperature can fall during the evening. With that being said, it may also be quite warm- Midsommar is known to have unpredictable weather.
The Party
What to expect from a Swedish wedding:
There is no rehearsal dinner – instead, the wedding dinner will last several hours.
Speeches will be frequent (very frequent in fact!) and expected from both family and friends. They’re more often than not very entertaining and heartfelt, and it’s a tradition Swedes carry in their hearts. Swedes like to sing traditional folk songs both in Swedish and English. Don’t stress out if you don’t know the lyrics, you will get a printed handout.
The event may go on until after midnight. There will be dancing, games, and more. The worth noting that the sun does not set until after 10 pm and it never really gets dark until the sun rises again at 4 am.

Reception Parking
For those traveling by car, please let us know so that we can plan ahead. Our wonderful neighbors are helping us out by lending driveway space so that nobody has to walk far as well as leave their cars overnight for those that will be drinking adult beverages and taking a taxi home.
